In our web enabled society, it is only logical that a virtual representation of the cultural heritage is recreated so that many more people can experience them and be invited to visit them. Urban designers and architects spend a lot of time in documenting the area in which they would be intervening. As a result-
1.More time is spent in documentation alone.
2.Duplication of effort if multiple firms working in the same precinct.
3.Natural bias of the designer towards his goals sometimes at the cost of other buildings in the precinct.
Non-holistic database resulting in lack of coordination between various infrastructural agencies- private and public.eg. Insensitive proliferation of communication towers. Therefore, it is important that a virtual model capable of providing 2D projections and made accessible to professionals and citizens; thus making it an important tool for decision-making and can be plugged on to GIS database of the city.
