8, is a project for a young couple, one a software designer and the other a finance manager, with elderly parents and expecting a baby. They wanted an addition of a bedroom (with bathroom) along with refurbishment to their Row House at Goregoan, a suburb of Mumbai.

The addition was proposed as an enhancement to the existing form and involved detailed site analysis. Additions, including the proposed roof form and Bay window, were modeled and presented as external views and internal walk-through for visualization and approval from the client. The Interior design and furniture design in the project included- Bedroom with study areas, a bathroom, the entrance foyer, the Bar area to the Living Room and an outdoor sit-out facing the private garden.

ArchiCad offered us the possibility of making the rendered views, walk- through and the working drawing document- all in a single software. This being our first project on ArchiCad, we also attempted to utilize the software’s capabilities of preparing Bill of Quantities. We continue to refine our knowledge of ArchiCad. We are also excited about the new possibilities of visualizing and manifesting our designs and hence our practice.
